July 5 & 31

Join a multi-generational team committed to building a living shoreline at Waterway Park during the annual SJP oyster events, set for 9:00 AM on Wednesday (7/5) and 8:00 AM on Monday (7/31). Both events will go until lunchtime. Volunteers will place bagged oyster shells in reefs and plant Spartina Grasses along the Intracoastal Waterway. UNCW professor Troy D. Alphin will direct the program, with help from his Benthic Ecology Lab students and Ocean 17 campers from across the country attending UNCW's MarineQuest Camp. And for the fourth year, youth from the Boys and Girls Home of Lake Waccamaw will also participate. Bring along your own youth of all ages! We all learn from the UNCW students, as they do from us.
